Qualifications / Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required — New Mexico registration or agency-assisted licensing recommended for travel nurses
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) RN experience
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • PALS certification preferred (preferred qualification for Med/Surg RNs)
  • Ability to float to other units; on-call is only for census flex prior to the start of the scheduled shift if census is low (not a regular rotation)
  • Fingerprinting required for all New Mexico travelers — ensure your staffing agency is registered with the state, as the fingerprint process can take several weeks

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients on a general medical-surgical inpatient unit as a Med/Surg RN and travel nurse
  • Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions, changes, and progress using MedHost EMR
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments per provider orders
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physicians, therapists, case managers) to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Provide safe patient handoffs and maintain accurate, timely documentation
  • Float to other units; on-call is only for census flex prior to the start of the scheduled shift if census is low (not a regular rotation)
