Job Details
- Location: Tyler, TX 75701 — Telemetry travel nurse position (Tyler, TX healthcare / Texas nursing jobs)
- Unit: 5 North – Telemetry (36 private rooms)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (March 23, 2026 – June 22, 2026)
- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Ratio: 1:6 (telemetry nursing / cardiac monitoring)
- Float: Required to units of equal or lesser acuity
- Orientation: 16 hours onsite
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,550 - $1,630 per week
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — eligible to practice in Texas (Telemetry RN / Registered Nurse)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Telemetry RN experience (telemetry nursing, cardiac monitoring)
- Previous travel nursing experience required (travel nurse, travel RN)
- BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
- EPIC electronic health record (EHR) charting experience required
- Ability to manage a 1:6 patient ratio in a telemetry unit
- Must not reside in the following Texas counties: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and telemetry interventions
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, manage dysrhythmias, and respond to rapid response/code situations (cardiac monitoring, telemetry nursing skills)
- Caring for patients recovering from cardiac surgery, stent placement, pacemaker implants, and other cardiac interventions
- Administer medications, manage IVs, and follow established heparin and insulin protocols
- Perform wound care, tracheostomy care, and manage feeding tubes as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services (team-based care)
- Float to similar acuity units as needed and maintain flexibility across clinical areas
- Document all care accurately and timely in EPIC electronic health record system (EPIC charting / EHR documentation)
