Join a dynamic and supportive Labor & Delivery team in Salem, Massachusetts! We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery nurse for a 13-week travel assignment (April 19, 2026 – July 18, 2026) in a state-of-the-art 25-bed unit that includes Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Newborn Care, and two Operating Rooms. Job Details
- Position: Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) / Perinatal Nurse / Maternal-Newborn Nurse
- Location: Salem, MA 01970 (North Shore)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (April 19, 2026 – July 18, 2026)
- Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed hours
- Shift: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day, Evening, Night rotations required; not eligible for straight days due to union agreement)
- Call: 1 night of call per week and every other weekend required
- Unit: Labor & Delivery / Postpartum / Newborn Care (5 L&D rooms, 12 Postpartum rooms, 2 ORs, 2 Recovery Rooms, 2 Antepartum rooms)
- EMR: EPIC experience required
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2130–$2250 per week
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years recent clinical experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn Care (perinatal nursing / maternal-newborn experience)
- Active Massachusetts RN license (Massachusetts nursing license)
- Current BLS and NRP required; EFM (electronic fetal monitoring) certification required; AHA ACLS preferred
- Proficiency in circulating in the OR and newborn care
- Comfortable administering magnesium infusions and assisting with epidurals
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, and every other weekend as required by the unit and union
- Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills (EPIC charting)
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, and the postpartum period
- Perform maternal and newborn assessments, monitor fetal status using EFM, and intervene appropriately
- Circulate in the operating room for cesarean sections and other procedures as needed
- Administer medications and assist with magnesium infusions, epidurals, and other obstetric treatments
- Support resuscitation and newborn stabilization per NRP guidelines
- Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesiology, pediatrics, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care
- Accurately document care and interventions in EPIC EMR and participate in unit call rotation and surge support
