ER RN Requirements

• Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Room / Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications
• TNCC or TNS certification required
• Flu vaccination and education verification
• Strong critical thinking, triage, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced emergency care environment

Emergency Department Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care using the nursing process in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members
• Triage, assess, and stabilize ER patients with varied acuity levels
• Administer medications and treatments according to approved nursing policies and protocols
• Document patient care, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly
• Develop, initiate, and evaluate individualized patient care plans per physician orders and unit policy
• Provide patient and family education, discharge instructions, and follow-up recommendations
• Participate in department performance improvement, safety initiatives, and peer review
• Apply critical thinking to escalate safety concerns and support other units as needed
• Engage in continuing professional development and emergency nursing best practices
