- Location: Hickory, NC 28601 (Catawba County area)
- Position: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg), Medical Surgical / Post-Surgical Unit (18 beds)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (April 13, 2026 – July 13, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00–07:00) — Night shift nursing job
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Electronic Health Record: Cerner (Cerner EHR experience required)
- Orientation: Twice monthly
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,590–$1,680/week
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state (Registered Nurse license)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience as a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse
- Experience with post-surgical and orthopedic patients strongly preferred
- Competency with IVs, medication administration, and Cerner EHR required
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Strong patient advocacy, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills — ideal for collaborative healthcare teams
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy Med/Surg unit
- Manage a typical patient ratio of 1:6, providing care for post-surgical, orthopedic, and medical patients
- Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions accurately using Cerner EHR
- Administer medications and IV therapies; operate Baxter IV pumps, SCD machines, Kangaroo feeding pumps, and PCA pumps
- Provide wound care, manage diabetic complications, and support end-of-life care when needed
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, therapists, case managers) to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Float as needed to surgical, neuro, or intermediate units while maintaining Med/Surg-level care competency
- Maintain a positive, proactive approach in a fast-paced clinical environment
