- Location: Wheeling, WV (Zip: 26003) — Wheeling, West Virginia nursing jobs / travel nurse opportunity
- Setting: Acute Care – Medical/Surgical Unit (Med/Surg RN role)
- Duration: 13 weeks (March 13, 2026 – June 12, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (1845-0715), weekends as scheduled — night shift RN job
- Hours: 36 hours per week, guaranteed
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1950–$2060
- Number of Positions: 2 openings
- Travel Assignment: Must reside outside a 50-mile radius (travel nursing requirement)
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active RN license (state license or compact; willing to wait for licensure if needed)
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg) clinical experience
- Experience with peritoneal dialysis highly preferred (preferred clinical skill)
- Ability to work every-other-weekend and holidays as scheduled
- Must submit a copy of unexpired driver’s license
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality medical-surgical nursing care to patients with a variety of medical and post-operative diagnoses (orthopedic, neuro, general surgery, infections, COPD, pneumonia, cellulitis, etc.)
- Manage patient assignments with typical night-shift ratios of 1:6–1:7
- Collaborate with an in-house multidisciplinary team including hospitalists, intensivists, CNAs, IV team, RT, and pharmacy (24/7 coverage)
- Assess IV sites and coordinate with IV team for IV starts; monitor and troubleshoot IVs and lines
- Monitor and manage infusions/drips (Heparin, occasional Lasix, PCAs, occasional Ativan gtt)
- Care for patients using intermittent BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy
- Float to other Med/Surg or Med/Surg/Oncology units as needed to support patient care
- Document patient care and assessments using Allscripts EMR (Sunrise)
- Participate in hospital and unit-specific orientation to ensure safe, compliant care
