Required Qualifications

• Active COTA license in Texas (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant)
• Minimum 1 year of OTA experience in hospital, LTC, or rehab settings
• Knowledge of ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, and modalities
• Familiarity with DME/splinting and assistive devices
• Adherence to NBCOT / AOTA standards and state practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics
• Proficient documentation skills in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and accurate treatment minute tracking

Key Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based, skilled occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
• Deliver rehabilitative care to patients with cognitive and/or physical impairments across hospital and LTC settings
• Perform ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercise, transfers, and functional mobility training
• Apply modalities and assistive/supportive devices as part of individualized treatment plans
• Assess patient progress and collaborate with supervising OT to adjust treatment goals and plan of care
• Report treatment effectiveness and outcomes to supervising Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary team
• Consult with patients, families, caregivers, and other providers to support discharge planning and continuity of care
• Document all regulatory and clinically required information in the EMR and maintain accurate patient records
• Accurately record treatment minutes for billable services and participate in required trainings, in-services, and meetings
• Assist supervising OT with obtaining necessary DME, supplies, and equipment
• Supervise and mentor students or aides under the direction of the Occupational Therapist when applicable
