Job Details – ICU Travel Nurse Opportunity
- Location: Odessa, TX (79761) – Odessa, Texas travel nursing
- Setting: ICU – Critical Care Unit (Critical Care Nurse)
- Employment Type: Travel Contract (Travel Nurse / Travel Nursing Job)
- Duration: 13 weeks (April 14, 2026 – July 14, 2026)
- Shift: Night Shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (18:30 – 07:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1820 - $1910 per week
- Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Unit Size: 20 beds, daily census ~15
- Interdisciplinary Support: IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Transportation, Unit Secretary
- Weekend Coverage: Required
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience (critical care nurse experience required)
- Travel nursing experience required (previous travel nurse assignments preferred)
- Current RN license (compact license accepted where applicable)
- Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, TNCC or TCAR
- Completion of EKG course (can be provided if needed)
- 6 hours of Stroke education (can be provided if needed)
- Experience with Cerner EMR/charting system preferred
- Must be willing and able to float to Medical-Surgical/Telemetry and Emergency Department for critical care holds
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
- Local candidates within 50 miles not accepted (open to travel nurses outside 50-mile radius)
ICU RN Responsibilities – Critical Care Nurse Duties
- Deliver high-quality critical care nursing to ICU patients across adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
- Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, post-cardiac surgery, neuro and surgical intensive care needs
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV insulin protocols, and emergency medications
- Perform and monitor procedures such as arterial line management, central/PICC line care, sheath removal, phlebotomy, and wound care
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, arterial blood gases (ABGs), and EKGs
- Care for ventilated patients; manage BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, suctioning, and ventilator settings
- Assist with chest tube insertion/removal, lumbar drains, ICP monitoring, and hypothermia protocols
- Float to MS/Tele and ER as needed based on competencies
- Maintain infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and effective care transitions
