Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania (PA RN license) required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required prior to first shift (AHA preferred)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certification required prior to first shift
• Minimum 1 year recent Med/Surg bedside clinical experience required; 2 years Med-Surg RN experience highly desired

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission and develop individualized Med/Surg care plans
• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission to support safe transitions of care
• Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees; provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary staff
• Communicate changes in patient status to the interdisciplinary care team to ensure continuity and safety
• Participate in team conferences and collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other clinicians
• Promote patient and employee safety by adhering to hospital policies, infection control protocols, and quality standards
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as requested and support efficient unit operations
• Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education to maintain clinical competency
• Contribute to a positive and efficient work environment through teamwork, professionalism, and strong communication
