Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,830 – $1,970
• Location: Des Moines, IA (50309) — Des Moines respiratory therapist opportunity
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 13, 2026 – July 13, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (6:30 PM – 6:30 AM), 36 hours/week
• Holiday Rotation: Required
• Weekend Rotation: Every 3rd weekend (subject to staffing/census)
• On Call: None
• Assignment Type: Travel Respiratory Therapist / Travel RRT contract

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years (36 months) recent respiratory therapy experience in a hospital or medical center (hospital RRT experience required)
• Active NBRC credential (RRT) and current BLS (AHA or ARC)
• PALS or NRP required
• Experience with EPIC EMR (electronic medical records) preferred
• Experience with HFOV (High-Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation), Jet ventilation, and Servo U ventilators highly preferred
• Comfort and experience working across PICU and NICU floors highly preferred
• Iowa Respiratory Care license highly preferred (licensing candidates accepted; Iowa RRT jobs welcome)
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Completed Respiratory Therapy skills checklist required
• Professional reference from charge/supervisor/nurse manager/director/CNO/COO within the last 24 months preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care to patients of all ages across multiple hospital campuses (hospital respiratory therapist duties)
• Operate advanced respiratory equipment including HFOV, Jet, and Servo U ventilators
• Administer power injection contrast injections and manage drips as needed
• Float across general pediatric, PICU, and NICU units as required by census
• Accurately document patient care and ventilator management using EPIC EMR
• Participate in holiday and weekend rotations and collaborate in multidisciplinary care teams
• Maintain certification and licensure standards in accordance with hospital and state requirements
