PACU Registered Nurse (Travel RN) opportunity at a leading hospital in Asheville, NC (28801) — 24-week travel contract, on-site PACU role requiring active RN license and BLS/ACLS/PALS. - Employment Type: Travel Contract / Travel Nurse (24 weeks)
- Location: On-site in Asheville, NC (28801)
- Unit: PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit), K Tower
- Number of Beds: 40
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Shift: 12-hour Nights (1:00 PM - 1:00 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Contract Duration: 24 weeks (Start: 3/23/2026 – End: 9/7/2026)
- Scrub Colors: Surgical green or navy
- Documentation System: Cerner (electronic health record)
- Scheduling: 6-week schedules; 3 call shifts required within each 6 weeks
- Floating Policy: Float within peri-anesthesia (Endoscopy / PreOp / Phase II)
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (compact or state-specific as required)
- Minimum 1 year PACU or acute care nursing experience; PACU RN or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit experience preferred
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Experience with NIH Stroke Scale
- Advanced skills in ventilator monitoring
- Trauma and pediatric PACU experience preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care for surgical patients in a busy 40-bed PACU
- Monitor and assess patients recovering from anesthesia, including ventilator monitoring and airway management
- Perform PACU procedures for trauma and pediatric patients as needed
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesia, surgeons, unit secretaries, and patient care techs
- Float to peri-anesthesia areas (Endoscopy, PreOp, Phase II) per unit needs
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation using Cerner EHR
- Participate in scheduled call shifts and adhere to staffing policies
