Responsibilities (Oncology RN / Travel Nurse)
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to oncology and women's surgical patients on K9A.
- Monitor patient conditions, administer chemotherapy and other medications as prescribed (chemo certification preferred).
- Assist with procedures including pelvic exams, echocardiograms (echo), and thoracentesis.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team: RNs, CNAs, HUCs, physicians, and oncology specialists.
- Document patient care accurately using Cerner EMR and maintain compliance with hospital policies.
- Float to other med-surg units as needed (rare).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Active RN license in the state of North Carolina (or compact RN license as applicable).
- Current BLS certification (AHA preferred).
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care experience; oncology experience preferred.
- Chemo certification preferred (oncology certification or oncology nursing experience a plus).
- Strong teamwork, communication skills, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Cerner EMR and med-surg/oncology workflows is beneficial.
Schedule & Expectations
- 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM); 36 hours per week.
- Staffing requires working approximately 6 weekend days per schedule.
- Four positions available for this 13-week travel nurse assignment.
