- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,620 - $1,700
- Job Title: Mother/Baby Registered Nurse (RN) / Travel RN / Postpartum Nurse
- Location: Mission Hospital, Asheville, NC (28801) — Asheville healthcare job / North Carolina nursing job
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Mother/Baby (Postpartum) – maternal/newborn, couplet care
- Number of Beds: 34 private couplet rooms
- Schedule: Weekends required; no on-call shifts
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or a compact state
- BLS (AHA) and NRP required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Mother/Baby or postpartum nursing experience
- STABLE certification preferred (maternal-newborn stabilization)
- Travel nursing experience preferred (Travel RN)
- Experience caring for patients on Magnesium Sulfate post-delivery is a plus
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive postpartum and newborn care in a couplet care setting as a Mother/Baby RN
- Monitor and assess postpartum mothers and healthy newborns; administer medications and IV therapy
- Document all care in Cerner EMR (electronic medical record)
- Assist with unit procedures including circumcisions and routine maternal-newborn interventions
- Utilize clinical equipment such as Alaris infusion pumps and bilirubin lights/blankets
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members: charge nurse, RNs, PCTs, and unit secretaries
- Float to Labor & Delivery and NICU as needed to support patient care (maternal-newborn cross-coverage)
- Provide patient education and promote breastfeeding and safe newborn care practices
