Travel CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) opportunity in Asheville, NC — 13-week contract in a cardiovascular intensive care unit at a state-of-the-art hospital. Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1910 - $2010
- Location: Asheville, NC 28801 (Asheville nursing jobs, North Carolina travel nurse)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Travel Nurse Contract)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Shift: 12 Hour Nights (6:45PM - 7:15AM), alternating weekends
- Unit: CVICU (16 beds) — Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac ICU
- Orientation: 4-hour hospital orientation followed by an 8-hour shift on the floor
- Dress Code: All navy, all white, or a combination of navy and white scrubs
Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent ICU experience required (critical care RN, CVICU RN, cardiac ICU experience preferred)
- Active RN license (able to work in North Carolina or compact RN license)
- Experience with titration of vesicant medications, pressors, sedation, and paralytics
- Proficiency with ventilators, tracheostomy care, telemetry interpretation, and hemodynamics
- Familiarity with PA catheter setup and interpretation, transvenous pacing, and cardioversion
- Experience with chest tube management and maintenance
- Advanced skills such as IABP, Impella, and CRRT are highly desirable
- CCRN certification appreciated but not required (critical care certification)
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill cardiovascular and post-operative cardiac surgery patients
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and hemodynamic data to guide clinical decision-making
- Administer and titrate complex medications, including vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, and paralytics
- Assist with advanced cardiac and critical care procedures: cardioversion, central line support, EGD, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertions, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis
- Utilize and manage advanced support devices and equipment: ventilators, Baxter IV pumps, IABP, Impella, CRRT, and hypothermia systems
- Document patient care accurately in the Cerner EMR system
- Float to related units as needed (E4, Cath Lab recovery, progressive care) and collaborate as a key member of the multidisciplinary team
- Maintain high standards of patient safety, infection control, and communication with families and care teams
