- Daily Census: 60-70 patients

- Interdisciplinary Support: IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Unit Secretary
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent Pediatric PACU experience (Phase I & II Recovery, Pre-Testing)
- Active D.C. Registered Nurse (RN) license required at time of submission
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Experience working in a Level I Trauma Center preferred
- Clinical skills: ICP monitoring, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, care of ventilated patients, conscious sedation
- Ability to care for patients across the lifespan (infants through adults)
- COVID-19 vaccine and current booster required (no exemptions)
- Required modules must be completed within the first week of assignment
- References preferred and must be available upon request
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive pediatric nursing care in the PACU, including pre- and post-anesthesia care for surgical patients
- Monitor and assess patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures; recognize and intervene for post-op complications
- Administer medications and procedural sedation; monitor sedation levels and airway status
- Perform ICP monitoring and manage ventilated pediatric patients as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (anesthesia, surgery, respiratory therapy, pharmacy) to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Accurate and timely documentation of patient care and handoffs
- Float between critical care units (NICU/PICU/CICU) as required by patient needs
- Adhere to facility compliance, safety standards, and travel nurse contractual obligations (including making up missed shifts as required)
