• Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Stroke Stepdown (Travel Nurse, Registered Nurse job)
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,970 - $2,080 (competitive for Utica travel nursing)
• Location: Utica, NY (13502) — Central New York travel nursing opportunity
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 18, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour days (6:30am – 7:00pm), 3 shifts per week
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Unit: Med/Surg Stroke Stepdown (64 beds) — stroke RN / stepdown unit experience preferred
• Employment Type: Travel, On-Site

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years Med/Surg nursing experience with stroke stepdown/step-down care
• Previous travel nursing experience required (travel nurse preferred)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York (NURSYS verification required)
• Current AHA BLS certification
• NIHSS certification (may be obtained prior to start)
• Skills checklist matching specialty and experience with EPIC EMR
• Driver’s license with address matching demographics and updated resume documenting relevant experience
• Ability to float to other units as needed; strong teamwork and communication skills

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients with stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, dialysis needs, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, and general medical-surgical needs
• Perform stroke assessments and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scoring as required for stroke stepdown care
• Administer medications, monitor patient conditions, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams
• Utilize specialty equipment including IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes; manage dialysis and critical care transitions as needed
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in EPIC EMR and follow unit-specific documentation standards
• Adhere to infection control, isolation protocols, and unit policies (navy blue scrubs required)
• Float to other units as required to support patient care and staffing needs
