- Position: Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) / Travel Nurse
- Location: Midland, TX 79701 — Midland healthcare / Texas travel nursing opportunity
- Contract Duration: 12 weeks (April 27, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (07:00 – 19:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Employment Type: Travel, On-Site (Emergency Department nurse role)
- Unit: Emergency Department (ED) – 42 beds, high-volume trauma and acute care
Minimum Qualifications / Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent Emergency Department (ER) experience in a similar-sized facility (ED nursing / trauma nurse experience)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required (pending license accepted; must be active before start)
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC (willing to obtain if not current)
- NIHSS and NRP preferred
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
- Ability to pass on-site drug screening and background checks
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high-volume emergency departments, trauma, and critical care
- Previous travel nurse assignments or contract nursing experience
- Comfort managing pediatric to geriatric emergency care
Responsibilities — Emergency Department (ED) Nurse / ER RN Duties
- Provide high-quality emergency care to neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics across a busy ED
- Assess, triage, and manage acute medical and traumatic presentations using ED nursing and emergency medicine best practices
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, and emergency medications
- Administer procedural sedation, IV vasopressors, and blood products as indicated
- Perform and manage central line care, chest tube care, assist with or manage intubation, and care for ventilated patients
- Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG and arterial blood gases; support acute cardiac care
- Manage major trauma cases including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, burns, and spinal cord injuries
- Implement isolation precautions/PPE, perform rapid triage, and coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams
- Address mental/behavioral health emergencies, manage violent behavior, and care for suicidal patients with appropriate safety protocols
- Collaborate closely with respiratory therapy, social services, pharmacy, physicians, and unit support staff
- Work some holidays as required; RTO required with submission
