Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience in a similar-sized facility — emergency nursing and trauma experience preferred
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (pending license accepted with submission; must be active before start)
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC (willingness to obtain required certifications if offered)
- NIHSS and NRP preferred
- Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed)
- On-site drug screen required prior to start
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics across a full spectrum of acute illnesses and injuries
- Assess, triage, and prioritize patients quickly in a high-volume emergency department — strong triage and critical thinking skills required
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure; collaborate with ED physicians and critical care teams
- Administer emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation per protocol
- Perform central line care, chest tube insertion/management, intubation, and manage ventilated patients
- Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG and arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Manage trauma cases including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation, burns, and spinal cord injuries — trauma/critical care experience highly valued
- Apply isolation precautions/PPE, follow infection control protocols, and maintain safe patient handling
- Address mental/behavioral health concerns, psychiatric holds, and manage violent or suicidal patients with de-escalation strategies
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Respiratory, Social Services, Pharmacy) to ensure comprehensive patient care
