Qualifications & Job Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Active RN license valid for practice in Kentucky (compact license accepted if valid in assignment state)
• Current CPR/BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and EKG certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical RN experience required; travel nursing experience required; 5 years Med/Surg experience preferred
• Proficiency in English (read, write, speak)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care to young adult, adult, and elderly patients using the nursing process in an acute care medical-surgical setting
• Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments and timely reassessments per policy
• Monitor cardiac status, manage telemetry, administer sedation and pain management therapies
• Care for chest tubes, manage pre/post cardiac catheterization care, and oversee TPN/PPN and transfusion therapy
• Access and manage central lines; administer specialized IV drips and titrate medications; perform IV therapy
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation and uphold patient confidentiality and privacy standards
• Develop and update individualized care plans and provide patient and family education
• Supervise and delegate tasks to other healthcare staff; serve as a team leader and clinical role model
• Assist physicians with procedures and respond promptly to changes in patient acuity or unit workload
• Participate in performance improvement activities and maintain ongoing professional development
• Operate and maintain patient care equipment and support cost-containment initiatives
• Adhere to infection control protocols, safety policies, and personnel guidelines
