- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Call Requirements: 16–24 hours/month (self-scheduled); 8-hour summer holiday call
- EMR: EPIC experience preferred
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric PACU, perioperative, or pre/post-op nursing experience
- Active RN license (compact or state-specific RN license as required)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Experience with common pediatric surgical cases: T&A, BVTs, gastroscopies, laparoscopic appendectomy, urology, orthopedics
- Ability to read cardiac strips and respond to changes in patient status
- Strong teamwork and communication skills; comfortable collaborating with perioperative care assistants and the surgical team
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, family-centered nursing care for pediatric patients in both pre-op and post-op PACU settings (Phase 1 and Phase 2)
- Maintain required nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 in Phase 1, 1:2 in Phase 2, and 1:3–5 in pre-op
- Monitor and assess patients post-anesthesia, including cardiac strip interpretation and timely intervention
- Document assessments and interventions accurately using EPIC EMR
- Collaborate with perioperative care assistants, anesthesiologists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
- Participate in self-scheduling for call shifts and maintain a 1-hour response time when on call
- Adhere to facility policies and dress code (scrubs provided via hospital scrub machine)
