• Shift: 3 x 12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

• Unit: Med Surg – 7th Floor Tower (Surgical Acute)
• Typical Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Orientation: 24 hours

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent Charge Nurse experience in a Med/Surg Telemetry (Med/Surg Tele) setting
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; pending license accepted for quick starts
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Experience with EPIC electronic charting system (EPIC experience preferred)
• Ability to float between like units as needed
• First-time travel nurses accepted
• Must be willing to work weekends as scheduled
• Local travelers (within 50 miles) are not eligible

Responsibilities

• Serve as Charge Nurse and lead unit operations for a busy Surgical Acute Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Manage a patient assignment of approximately 1:5, including post-op, medical-surgical, and telemetry patients
• Oversee telemetry monitoring through the on-site Central Monitoring Unit (CMU) and respond to telemetry alerts
• Provide advanced clinical care including IV insulin protocols, wound care, tracheostomy management, and cardiac drips (no titration)
• Ensure appropriate use of isolation precautions and PPE; maintain infection control standards
• Coordinate and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV team, physical therapy (PT), respiratory therapy (RT), pharmacy, and social services
• Float to like units as required and assist with staffing/assignment decisions
• Complete required orientation, competency checks, and training modules prior to and during assignment
