- Location: Akron, OH 44304 — downtown Akron, local eateries, and nearby outdoor recreation (Ohio nursing jobs, Akron healthcare)
- Unit: H5 Med/Surg (36-bed medical-surgical unit)
- Role Type: Travel Nurse / Travel RN — Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg RN, Acute Care RN)
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg RN experience required (medical-surgical nursing, acute care experience)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Nursys verification required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Epic EMR experience within the last year — must be documented on resume (Epic, electronic medical record)
- Accredited nursing degree (ACEN or CCNE)
- Ability to float to other units as needed
- Solid black scrubs required
- Professional submission packet and background check required
- Health screenings and immunizations per onboarding requirements
- Maximum 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed; no RTO during the first two weeks
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with general and surgical needs (patient care, clinical support)
- Manage patient assignments with ratios of approximately 1:5–6 in a busy 36-bed Med/Surg unit
- Provide care for patients undergoing general surgery and specialty procedures including colorectal, abdominal, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, urology, women's health, gynecology, GYN oncology, plastics, ENT, trauma, cardiothoracic, orthopedics, and spinal/neuro overflow
- Provide specialized care for women with obstetrical issues (e.g., intra-uterine fetal demise, preeclampsia, substance withdrawal, diabetic pregnancies)
- Adapt to changing patient assignments and acuity throughout the shift; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Float to other units as needed and maintain flexible clinical support across departments
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic and uphold patient safety and quality standards
