Required Qualifications (ER RN / Emergency Department RN)

• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Room nursing experience; 2 years preferred in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ visits/year)
• Active RN license (must be valid for North Carolina or Compact RN licensure)
• Required certifications before start: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS
• ENPC required within 90 days of hire
• Strong teamwork mentality, flexibility to float across ED areas, and ability to coach/mentor in real time
• Professional conduct focused on patient experience and cultural sensitivity

Key Responsibilities — Emergency Nursing & Clinical Duties

• Deliver high-quality emergency care in a fast-paced, high-volume Emergency Department (ED nurse responsibilities)
• Manage typical patient ratios of 4:1 for medical patients and up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
• Use Cerner electronic documentation, monitor GE telemetry systems, and work with Baxter infusion pumps
• Collaborate with techs, unit clerks, physicians, and interdisciplinary ED staff
• Float to all sections of the ED as needed, maintain patient boards, and ensure clear communication during patient visits
• Follow hospital policies including dress code (navy/white scrubs), attendance expectations, and tobacco-free campus rules

Orientation & Onboarding

• 4-hour hospital orientation plus an 8-hour floor orientation shift
• Supportive ED team with mentorship opportunities for travel nurses joining the facility
