• Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (12-hour days)
• Hours per Week: 36 (Full-time)
• Weekend Hours: Every 3rd weekend (Saturday & Sunday)

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required; must be eligible to practice in Indiana (active RN license)
• CPR certification (AHA BLS or equivalent) required
• HWC certification required
• Minimum 1 year behavioral health / psychiatric nursing experience preferred
• Experience with crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, active listening, and empathetic communication preferred
• Accurate and thorough charting and behavioral management skills preferred (paper charting experience)
• Strong critical thinking, teamwork, and patient-centered approach — ideal behavioral health nurse / mental health RN traits

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate psychiatric nursing care to adult patients with substance use disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, PTSD, and anxiety disorders
• Apply crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation techniques to maintain patient and staff safety
• Rotate between two inpatient behavioral health units within the hospital
• Perform medication administration using Pyxis and maintain accurate paper charting
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (psychiatrists, therapists, social workers) to deliver comprehensive behavioral health treatment
• Demonstrate active listening, empathetic communication, and patient advocacy with patients and families
