Job Details

- Duration: 13 weeks
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Shift: 8-hour days
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Valid state PTA license required (Georgia licensure or ability to obtain GA licensure preferred)
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- At least 2 years of bedside experience (inpatient hospital or acute care experience preferred)
- Strong commitment to patient and employee safety and quality rehabilitation care
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-focused care skills
Key Responsibilities
- Assist directly and indirectly with delivery of physical therapy services, including therapeutic exercises, functional activities, gait training, transfers, and mobility training under the supervision of a Physical Therapist
- Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs established by the Physical Therapist and support inpatient rehabilitation efforts
- Train patients in locomotion and use of orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs
- Demonstrate and utilize therapeutic modalities (whirlpools, hot/cold packs, paraffin, ultrasound, etc.) as appropriate
- Monitor patient response to treatment, intervene as necessary, and escalate concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist
- Document patient progress, response to treatment, and patient/family education on a weekly basis in accordance with hospital policies
- Teach caregivers safe assistance techniques for mobility, transfers, positioning, and exercise to support discharge planning
- Maintain professional, ethical relationships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff; participate in team conferences and quality improvement projects
- Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, infection control, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements
- Provide exceptional customer service and patient-centered care to patients, visitors, and staff at all times
