• Duration: 13 weeks
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift: 8-hour days

Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Valid state PTA license required (Georgia licensure or ability to obtain GA licensure preferred)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• At least 2 years of bedside experience (inpatient hospital or acute care experience preferred)
• Strong commitment to patient and employee safety and quality rehabilitation care
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-focused care skills

Key Responsibilities

• Assist directly and indirectly with delivery of physical therapy services, including therapeutic exercises, functional activities, gait training, transfers, and mobility training under the supervision of a Physical Therapist
• Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs established by the Physical Therapist and support inpatient rehabilitation efforts
• Train patients in locomotion and use of orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs
• Demonstrate and utilize therapeutic modalities (whirlpools, hot/cold packs, paraffin, ultrasound, etc.) as appropriate
• Monitor patient response to treatment, intervene as necessary, and escalate concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist
• Document patient progress, response to treatment, and patient/family education on a weekly basis in accordance with hospital policies
• Teach caregivers safe assistance techniques for mobility, transfers, positioning, and exercise to support discharge planning
• Maintain professional, ethical relationships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff; participate in team conferences and quality improvement projects
• Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, infection control, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements
• Provide exceptional customer service and patient-centered care to patients, visitors, and staff at all times
