Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State, or eligibility to obtain New York RN licensure
• BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross; may be obtained prior to start date)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a nursing supervisor, charge nurse, or leadership role
• Prior clinical experience in Labor & Delivery (L&D), Mother Baby, or NICU preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills; proven ability in staff management and clinical decision-making
• Ability to float to units within competency and provide clinical support during high-acuity events

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and supervision for L&D, Mother Baby, and NICU units during the night shift
• Complete and distribute Nursing Supervisor shift reports via email; ensure accurate handoffs for incoming shifts
• Conduct department rounds at least every 2 hours to monitor patient safety and unit operations
• Assess and manage staffing assignments; address real-time staffing issues and coordinate resources for upcoming shifts
• Participate in bed meetings at 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM to optimize patient flow and unit capacity
• Perform AED checks once per 24 hours (night shift) and check PACU defibrillator on weeknights and weekends
• Handle sick calls, update call sheets, and call in staff for C-sections when needed
• Investigate and document protest forms and incident reports with appropriate follow-up
• Facilitate nursing communication and provide frontline support during codes, emergent events, and post-event debriefs
• Ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and patient safety standards across perinatal and neonatal care areas
