Wound Care Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: Newark, New Jersey (07112) — Newark, NJ travel nurse opportunity
- Setting: Acute Care Hospital – Wound Care Unit (acute care, critical care populations)
- Start Date: May 4, 2026
- End Date: August 3, 2026
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shift, 5 x 7.5-hour shifts (07:00 - 15:00)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,370 - $2,500

Wound Care RN Requirements
- Active New Jersey RN license or Compact RN license (required at time of submission)
- Minimum 1 year recent wound care experience in an acute or critical care setting (pressure injury and wound management)
- WOCN or CWCN certification required (WOCN-certified or CWCN-certified preferred)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Previous charge nurse experience (required)
- Proficiency in pressure injury (pressure ulcer) assessment, staging, documentation, and prevention strategies
- Experience with ICU, open heart surgery, and transplant patient populations preferred
- Flexible with end-of-shift times based on documentation and patient needs
- Ability to float within skillset as needed; strong clinical judgment and time management
Wound Care RN Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive pressure injury and wound assessments, accurate staging, and timely documentation
- Develop and implement individualized wound care plans focused on prevention, treatment, and pressure injury reduction
- Utilize advanced wound care modalities including debridement agents, specialty dressings, negative pressure wound therapy (wound vac), and ostomy management
- Collaborate with primary nurses, nurse educators, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure evidence-based wound care practices
- Maintain detailed patient tracking (Excel spreadsheets and EMR) for pressure injuries, staging, and hospital-acquired status
- Participate in wound rounds, prevalence studies, and quality improvement initiatives using data-driven insights
- Educate patients, families, and staff on wound care, ostomy care, pressure injury prevention, and post-procedure instructions
- Ensure compliance with infection control, isolation precautions, and hospital policies
- Support unit goals to reduce hospital-acquired pressure injuries and improve patient outcomes
