Join a nationally recognized pediatric medical and surgical center in beautiful Madison, Wisconsin. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse / Pediatric ICU RN for a travel nurse assignment to provide exceptional, family-centered critical care. Work at a Magnet-designated hospital alongside a multidisciplinary critical care team in a warm, healing environment. This travel RN job is ideal for PICU RNs with CVPICU experience and strong pediatric critical care skills.

- Assignment Type: Travel Contract (Travel Nurse)
- Start Date: May 18, 2026
- End Date: August 17, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shifts: 12-hour rotating shifts (Day: 7:00am–7:30pm; Night: 7:00pm–7:30am), 3 shifts per week, with every other weekend and some holidays required
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,290 – $2,410 (competitive travel nurse pay)
- Unit: Mixed CVPICU & PICU (25 beds, 4 satellite ICU beds)
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license (must be in hand at submission)
- Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience in PICU or CVPICU within the last 3 years
- Strong pediatric ICU experience and at least 1 year of cardiovascular (CV) experience required (CVPICU or cardiac ICU experience preferred)
- Experience in high-acuity hospital settings and trauma level II or higher preferred
- EPIC charting experience required (EPIC experience is a plus for critical care nursing roles)
- AHA BLS and PALS certifications required
- Must pass a telemetry test prior to starting (strict pass/fail criteria)
- First-time travel nurses accepted with 3 years of high-acuity hospital experience
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, family-centered care to pediatric patients with complex medical and surgical conditions, including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, trauma, and transplant cases
- Monitor and manage critically ill pediatric patients, including those requiring advanced therapies such as ECMO, CRRT, and VAD
- Administer medications, manage ventilators, central lines, invasive monitoring, and other advanced critical care equipment
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including pediatric intensivists, cardiologists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and allied health professionals
- Float as needed to NICU and general care units based on staffing needs, demonstrating flexibility typical of travel RN roles
- Participate in rapid response, code situations, and family-centered rounds as required
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and families throughout the care continuum
