Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (Pediatric OR) – Madison, WI. 13-week travel RN assignment for experienced perioperative nurses with 2+ years pediatric OR/trauma experience, BLS (AHA), and Epic charting skills.

Work in a Magnet-designated, nationally recognized pediatric medical and surgical center supporting a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU. Collaborate with top pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams while delivering exceptional perioperative care to children and families.

- Job Title: Travel Operating Room RN / Pediatric OR RN
- Location: Madison, Wisconsin (53792) – Madison, WI; Wisconsin nursing jobs; Midwest healthcare
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (May 11, 2026 – August 10, 2026)
- Shift: 4 x 10-hour day shifts (07:00 – 17:30)
- Weekly Hours: 40
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,370 – $2,500
- Setting: Pediatric Operating Room, Ambulatory OR, Pediatric Trauma
- Start Dates Available: 5/11, 5/18, or 6/1/2026
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active WI RN license or compact RN license in hand at submission
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in Pediatric OR, Ambulatory OR, and Pediatric Trauma within the last 3 years
- BLS certification (AHA only)
- PALS certification preferred
- Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR)/charting
- Trauma Level I and II experience required (pediatric trauma nurse experience)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Pass/fail competency testing required with strict passing criteria (including telemetry exams)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care for pediatric patients across the OR, ambulatory surgery, and trauma cases
- Demonstrate proficiency in a broad range of pediatric surgical procedures and perioperative interventions
- Assist anesthesia and participate in trauma response and resuscitation as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation using Epic and comply with charting best practices
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and surgical specialists
- Float to other pediatric units or OR locations as staffing needs require
- Participate in orientation, competency assessments, and required telemetry testing
- Ensure adherence to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards in the perioperative environment
Examples of Required Skills / Procedures: Administration of blood products, assisting with anesthesia, central line insertion/removal, trauma response, pediatric general OR procedures, experience with Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, wound management, airway management, and pediatric-specific equipment and monitoring.
