Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,120 - $2,230
• Location: Des Moines, IA 50309 — Downtown Des Moines, close to parks, dining, and a welcoming community
• Position Type: Travel RN / Contract (Oncology RN, Hematology/Oncology)
• Setting: Outpatient Hematology/Oncology Clinic (infusion/chemotherapy clinic)
• Start Date: May 4, 2026 (Orientation dates: May 4 & May 11; May 4 prioritized)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour day shifts (start between 7:30–8:00 AM, end between 4:00–4:30 PM)
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• On-Call: None
• Weekends: None

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of Oncology RN experience in a clinic or ambulatory setting required (outpatient oncology, infusion clinic preferred)
• Will consider first-time travelers with at least 2 years of current Oncology experience
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required (Iowa nursing jobs, Des Moines healthcare)
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Port competency and phlebotomy experience required (port access, port draws)
• EPIC (Beacon) EMR experience strongly encouraged
• Oncology/Clinic/Chemotherapy skills checklist required (chemotherapy administration, infusion nurse competencies)
• Professional reference from a supervisor/manager within the last 24 months preferred
• Driver’s license required

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to hematology/oncology patients in an outpatient setting
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy and biologic infusions; perform phlebotomy, injections, and port draws
• Educate patients and families on chemotherapy, side-effect management, and outpatient care instructions
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including 2 Nurse Practitioners and 3 MD providers to coordinate patient care
• Manage an average daily patient load of 12–15 and prioritize safe, timely care
• Document care accurately and efficiently in EPIC (Beacon) EMR
• Contribute to a positive, patient-centered clinic environment and support clinic quality initiatives
