- Start Date: May 18, 2026
- End Date: August 17, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night Shift – 3x12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,630 – $1,750
- Charting / EMR: EPIC (EPIC experience required)
- Weekend/Holiday: Weekend shifts required (may be every other weekend or 6 shifts per 6-week block); must work at least one holiday during the contract
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent critical care experience in a high-volume ER, ICU, or Level I Trauma Center (critical care respiratory therapist)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the NBRC (CRT not accepted)
- Active Virginia Respiratory Care Practitioner license (pending license accepted with temporary authorization)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- EPIC charting experience required
- COVID-19 and seasonal flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- First-time travelers accepted; 1 year travel experience preferred
- Must reside at least 100 miles from facility (local candidates not accepted)
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients across critical care areas
- Manage invasive and non-invasive ventilators (Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow, iNOvent, LTV1200) and perform ventilator liberation and weaning protocols
- Administer aerosolized therapies and medication delivery systems (mask, trach, MDI, Medihaler)
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs), perform ABG analysis, and troubleshoot high-pressure/low-pressure ventilator alarms
- Perform advanced airway management: intubation support, extubation, oral/nasal airway placement, suctioning, sputum collection, and tracheostomy care
- Set up and manage oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and nebulizer treatments
- Float within skillset to support ED, neurotrauma, cardiovascular, and medical/surgical units as needed
- Document respiratory care interventions accurately and timely in EPIC
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient respiratory outcomes in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
