Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse (RN) travel assignment in Odessa, TX — 13-week travel nursing job supporting Med/Surg, Telemetry and Stroke patients on a busy unit. Start date May 19, 2026.

Job Details

• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Travel Nurse / Travel RN)
• Start Date: May 19, 2026
• Setting: Med/Surg / Telemetry / Stroke Unit (Unit 6191 - 9C)
• Shifts: Nights, 12-hour shifts (18:45 - 07:15); facility may consider 36/48 alternating or straight 48 hours
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,750 - $1,840 (Competitive weekly pay for travel nursing jobs)
• Location: Odessa, TX 79761 — West Texas / Permian Basin (Texas travel nurse opportunity)
• Patient Ratios: Up to 6:1
• Orientation: 16 hours
• Note: Local candidates within 50 miles not accepted

Job Requirements (Qualifications)

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas (required)
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience; Med/Surg / Telemetry / Stroke experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience (Travel RN) strongly preferred
• Cerner charting experience preferred (electronic medical record / EMR)
• Willingness to float to other Med/Surg / Telemetry units as assigned
• Flu vaccine required; medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg / Telemetry / Stroke unit as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Perform telemetry monitoring, patient assessments, medication administration, and clinical interventions
• Document patient care and assessments accurately using Cerner (preferred EMR system)
• Recognize and respond to stroke symptoms and acute changes in patient condition (NIHSS knowledge preferred)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (physicians, therapists, case managers) to achieve high-quality patient outcomes
• Float to other Med/Surg / Telemetry units as needed and maintain compliance with facility policies and procedures
