Join a dynamic L&D team as a Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) on a 13-week travel nursing contract in Upper Marlboro, Maryland (Prince George's County), with easy access to Washington, D.C. This night-shift position supports care for laboring mothers, neonates, infants, and adults in a modern community hospital setting. Ideal candidates have recent perinatal/L&D experience and prior travel RN assignments.

  • Position: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) / Travel Nurse
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,070 - $2,180
  • Location: Upper Marlboro, MD (20774) — Prince George's County, near Washington, D.C.
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Nights, 3 x 12-hour shifts (19:30 - 08:00)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Start Date: 05/04/2026
  • Scheduling: Self-scheduling available; every other weekend required; holiday coverage as scheduled
  • Floating: Required within the specialty (L&D)

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (perinatal/maternal-child health)
  • Travel RN experience required (first-time travelers not accepted)
  • Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license
  • Certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP (AAP or AHA/NRP), and STABLE required
  • Experience with Epic electronic charting system preferred
  • Previous charge RN experience, community hospital, LTAC, or Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Comfortable floating within specialty and working variable acuity (patient ratios typically 1:2, up to 1:3 for lower acuity)
  • References: Two satisfactory professional references from most recent employers (one supervisor/manager and one charge RN)
  • Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
  • Locals: must reside 50+ miles from the facility

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns (neonatal care and infant assessment)
  • Assist with and support vaginal deliveries and Cesarean sections; circulate for C-sections and manage post-operative recovery
  • Perform sterile vaginal exams, triage obstetrical patients, and utilize EFM (external fetal monitoring)
  • Administer and manage IV therapies, blood products, magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, and pain management protocols
  • Maintain and troubleshoot central lines (CVC/PICC), start and maintain IVs, and operate infusion pumps
  • Implement isolation precautions and appropriate PPE; collaborate with Respiratory Therapy, Radiology, Pharmacy, and Social Services
  • Provide patient and family education, documentation in Epic (when applicable), and participate in interdisciplinary care planning
  • Float within the hospital as needed to support unit staffing
