Qualifications (Required)
- Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse program (BSN preferred)
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Pennsylvania
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) – current
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – current
- Minimum 2 years prior Operating Room (OR) experience required (perioperative nursing experience, scrub or circulating)
- Knowledge of perioperative nursing practices and AORN standards
- Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills; ability to act as patient/staff liaison
- Professionalism, sound judgment, and high level of mental and emotional tolerance
- If you do not meet all preferred qualifications, in-house Operating Room training will be provided upon hire
Responsibilities (Perioperative / OR RN)
- Deliver professional perioperative nursing care following current AORN standards and facility protocols
- Assess surgical patients and develop individualized perioperative plans of care
- Support pediatric through geriatric patient populations in pre-op, intra-op, and immediate post-op phases
- Maintain sterile fields; manage surgical instrumentation, supplies, and equipment functionality
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient status to ensure patient safety
- Apply aseptic technique, surgical technique, and proper patient positioning
- Document patient care, surgical counts, and intraoperative events accurately and timely
- Educate patients and families on perioperative expectations and post-operative care
- Maintain and develop perioperative knowledge, technical skills, and competency
