Job Details
- Location: Washington, DC 20007 (Georgetown) — close to scenic waterfront, dining, and historic landmarks
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (May 18, 2026 – August 17, 2026)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,990 – $2,100
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4x10-hour day shifts (staggered start times: 07:30–18:00 and 08:00–18:30)
- No weekends, holidays, or on-call required
- Unit / Setting: PACU / Endoscopy — adult and pediatric patient population; ambulatory/outpatient and perioperative care
- Float Requirement: Will float per competency within GI Suite
- EMR: Cerner experience preferred
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Active DC Registered Nurse (RN) license (pending accepted if applied prior to start date)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (AHA preferred)
- Minimum 2 years recent clinical experience in inpatient endoscopy, PACU, or pre-op/perioperative nursing
- Preferred: Phase I PACU, Phase II recovery, ambulatory/outpatient experience, and prior charge experience
- At least one prior travel assignment preferred; first-time travel nurses will be screened
- Experience with Cerner or similar electronic medical record (EMR)
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
- Two (2) supervisor references required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality post-anesthesia care to adult and pediatric patients in the PACU and Endoscopy unit
- Perform airway assessment, pain management, and medication administration including IV vasopressors, antihypertensives, and opioid analgesics
- Conduct pre-op assessments and patient education, obtain operative/procedural consent, and review history & physicals
- Manage pre- and post-endoscopy and operative procedures, including post-discharge follow-up phone calls
- Start and maintain IVs, perform medication reconciliation, and troubleshoot immediate post-op complications
- Respond to emergencies and collaborate with rapid response teams as needed
- Float within the GI Suite per competency and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV team, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy)
- Document accurately in Cerner and adhere to hospital and perioperative nursing policies
