- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Shift: Combination of 2x12-hour and 2x8-hour shifts per week; varied start times; up to 3 call shifts per 6 weeks
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,370 – $2,500 (competitive travel nurse pay)
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts (MA RN)
- Minimum 1 year of recent PACU experience as a PACU RN or perioperative nurse
- Current ACLS and PALS certifications required
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and skills checklists as required
- Ability to participate in on-call rotation (up to 3 call shifts per 6 weeks)
- Strong patient assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Experience collaborating with surgical and anesthesia teams preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide direct post-operative nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia in the PACU
- Monitor patient recovery, airway status, hemodynamics, and respond rapidly to clinical changes
- Administer medications, manage pain control, and implement prescribed treatments
- Perform focused assessments, discharge criteria evaluation, and safe handoffs to inpatient units or discharge planners
- Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical, and perioperative teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families on post-operative care, discharge instructions, and recovery expectations
- Maintain accurate, timely electronic documentation and comply with facility policies
- Participate in required on-call rotation and unit-specific competencies
