CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel assignment in Asheville, NC (28801); 13-week Cardiac ICU travel nursing opportunity caring for post-op cardiac patients in a state-of-the-art Heart Tower. - Location: Asheville, NC (28801) — Asheville nursing jobs / North Carolina travel nursing
- Unit: CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit) / CVRU, 3rd floor Heart Tower
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (travel RN assignment)
- Shift: 12-hour days (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) — Cardiac ICU nurse, day shift
- Hours per Week: 36
- Employment Type: Travel RN / Travel nursing
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active RN license (state of practice)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years recent CVICU, CVRU, or cardiac post-op critical care experience
- Critical care training and proven hemodynamic monitoring skills
- High energy, upbeat personality and strong teamwork skills
- Preferred: Critical Care certification (CCRN), cardiac surgery, or recovery room certification
Responsibilities (Cardiac ICU / CVICU RN)
- Provide exceptional, patient-centered care to post-surgical cardiac patients in a 19-bed mixed CVICU/CVRU unit
- Manage advanced mechanical circulatory support and cardiac devices including ECMO, Impella, IABP, and LVADs
- Perform critical care procedures: intubation/extubation, chest tube and pacer wire removal, frequent ambulation, and continuous hemodynamic monitoring
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge nurses, nurse educators, physicians, and allied health staff
- Float to other ICUs and stepdown units as needed—flexible critical care RN skills required
- Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR and monitor systems (GE monitors); ensure compliance with unit protocols
- Adhere to unit guidelines and dress code (navy blue or white scrubs); arrive prepared and ready to deliver high-quality cardiac nursing care
