Job Details
- Job Title: CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) / Cardiac ICU RN / Critical Care RN (Travel)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
- Location: Heart Tower, 3rd Floor, Asheville, NC 28801 — Asheville travel nursing, North Carolina nursing jobs
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (April 15, 2026 – July 15, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Employment Type: Travel
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (valid in North Carolina) — experienced CVICU / Cardiac ICU nurse preferred
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Critical care training and hemodynamic monitoring experience
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU or CVRU experience (cardiac surgery/post-op cardiac care)
- Strong interest and experience in surgical heart care (IABP, Impella, LVAD familiarity a plus)
- High energy, teamwork-oriented, and upbeat personality
- Preferred: Certification in Critical Care (CCRN), Cardiac Surgery, or Recovery Room care
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care in a 19-bed mixed CVICU/CVRU unit with 1:2 or 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratios depending on acuity
- Care for patients undergoing cardiac surgery (approximately 850 cases per year) and provide post-op cardiac ICU management
- Perform and assist with procedures including IABP, Impella, LVAD care, intubation/extubation, pulling chest tubes, and removing pacer wires
- Perform frequent ambulation and active recovery support for post-operative cardiac patients
- Monitor hemodynamics and advanced cardiac parameters using GE monitors and document in Cerner EMR
- Float to other ICUs and stepdown units as needed — flexible CVICU/travel RN assignment within the hospital system
- Work alongside experienced charge nurses and an educator for orientation and ongoing clinical support
- Adhere to unit guidelines and dress code (navy blue or white scrubs); arrive prepared to collaborate and maintain patient safety
