Travel ER RN opportunity in Asheville, NC — 10-week nights at a high-volume Level 2 trauma and comprehensive stroke center.

Join a dynamic Emergency Department team in Asheville (Buncombe County), North Carolina. This travel nurse job is ideal for experienced emergency nurses seeking a fast-paced, high-acuity ER role with supportive colleagues and a multicultural patient population.

Job Details — Travel Nurse / ER RN

  • Position: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) / Travel Nurse
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,640 – $1,730
  • Location: Asheville, NC (28801) — Asheville healthcare jobs, Western North Carolina
  • Facility: Emergency Department, 101 beds; high-volume ED at a Level 2 trauma & comprehensive stroke center
  • Contract Duration: 10 weeks
  • Shift: 12-hour nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) — night shift ER nurse
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Openings: 5 travel RN positions
  • Scheduling: Every other weekend required; flexibility and travel nursing experience preferred

Job Requirements — Emergency Nursing Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year in an Emergency Department (ER)
  • Experience in a Level 2 trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or other high-volume ED (100,000+ visits/year) — trauma nursing or acute care experience preferred
  • Active RN license (compact or state-specific RN license acceptable per contract)
  • Required certifications before start: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS
  • ENPC required within 90 days of hire
  • Strong teamwork mentality with ability to coach, give feedback in real time, and float across ED sections
  • Commitment to respectful patient care and a positive patient experience; experience serving diverse, multilingual populations is a plus

Responsibilities — Emergency Department RN Duties

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity Emergency Department
  • Manage typical patient ratios (medical ~4:1; behavioral holds up to 7:1) and prioritize triage in a busy ED
  • Use and troubleshoot clinical equipment including Baxter infusion pumps and GE patient monitors
  • Accurately document patient care in the Cerner electronic health record (EHR)
  • Collaborate with techs, unit clerks, physicians, and interdisciplinary staff to optimize patient outcomes
  • Float to all areas of the Emergency Department as needed (triage, fast-track, resuscitation, behavioral health)
  • Demonstrate AIDET communication, update patient boards, and maintain patient-centered care during visits
  • Adhere to facility dress code (required navy scrubs) and safety protocols
