Job Details

• Position: Operating Room Registered Nurse First Assistant (OR RNFA) / Travel Nurse
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $3,250 – $3,420 (competitive travel nursing pay)
• Location: Peoria, IL 61637 (Peoria, Central Illinois) — Illinois travel nursing job
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (May 11, 2026 – August 10, 2026)
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8-hour day shifts (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM), 5 shifts per week, with call required
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Setting: Acute Care, General Surgery Operating Room — high-volume OR with robotic cases
• Charting System: Epic (Epic OpTime experience preferred)

Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or willingness to obtain Illinois RN license (compact status considered)
• Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) or RNFA certification required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA
• Minimum 2 years recent experience as an OR RNFA / surgical first assistant, including both robotic and open general surgery cases
• Proven experience assisting in procedures such as robotic colon, hernia repairs, gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, and cholecystectomy; competency with firing staplers and intraoperative device handling
• Ability to respond to on-call within 30 minutes
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen (drug-free campus)

Responsibilities / Clinical Duties

• Assist surgeons as the first assistant in a busy operating room environment (31 suites; 15 general surgery rooms)
• Support high surgical volume (40–60 general surgery cases per day) including robotic and open procedures
• Scrub in, handle surgical instruments, manage retractors, suture and staple as indicated, and assist with specimen handling
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary team members including surgeons, charge nurses, and surgical technologists
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic OpTime and ensure timely charting for perioperative records
• Participate in on-call rotation as needed with a 30-minute response expectation
• Adhere to hospital policies, infection control standards, and dress code (scrubs provided)
