Travel Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry RN (Night Shift) in Danville, VA. 13-week travel nursing contract at a 250-bed academic community hospital—ACLS & BLS required. Join our healthcare team delivering advanced cardiac and stroke care in a welcoming Virginia community.
Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 – $1,890
- Location: Danville, VA 24541 (River District — parks, trails, boutiques)
- Position: Travel Nurse RN – Med/Surg Telemetry / Telemetry RN / Progressive Care (PCU) Nurse
- Unit: 6A Telemetry/PCU (36 beds)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 19, 2026 – July 18, 2026)
- Patient Ratios: PCU 1:4, Tele 1:6 (blended 1:5)
- Electronic Health Record: Meditech

Job Requirements
- Active RN license in Virginia (compact license accepted per facility policy)
- Minimum 1 year recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry or Progressive Care (PCU) — telemetry nurse experience preferred
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, HWC, NIH
- Consent to random drug screening and completion of Criminal Questionnaire/Consent Form
- Ability to float to Med/Surg and ICU as needed (cross-coverage flexibility for travel nurse roles)
- May require travel within a 25-mile radius of the facility
- Scrub color: Any (no casual wear)
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on telemetry and progressive care units as a Med/Surg Telemetry RN / Telemetry Nurse
- Monitor and manage patients with CHF, AMI, respiratory failure, renal failure, DKA, AFib and other acute cardiac and medical diagnoses
- Interpret telemetry strips, respond to rhythm changes, and escalate care following ACLS protocols and facility guidelines
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and case management to coordinate comprehensive patient care
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient information accurately and in a timely manner in Meditech EHR
- Participate in bi-weekly orientation and ongoing unit training to support travel nurse integration and unit competency
- Maintain compliance with facility policies, procedures, infection control and patient safety protocols
