Job Details
- Location: Alexandria, VA 22306 (Northern Virginia / Washington, D.C. area)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (April 6, 2026 – July 4, 2026)
- Role: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry / Telemetry RN
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,720 – $1,820
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: As needed
- Floating: First to float (Med, Surg, Tele, Ortho units)
- Orientation: 2 days
- Scrubs: Navy blue pants and solid navy-blue tops
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active RN license (must be valid for travel assignment)
- BLS certification (AHA required)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry (tele) experience
- Proficiency with Epic EMR (clinical documentation experience)
- Ability to read and interpret ECGs (ECG exam required – pass/fail, one attempt; study guide and session provided)
- Clinical experience with post-op care, GI care, NGT/PEG management, surgical wound care, trach and chest tube management, hypoglycemia interventions, and telemetry monitoring
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to general medicine and post-surgical patients as a Med/Surg Tele RN
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and ECGs for up to 4–5 patients per shift
- Administer medications and manage IV drips, including PCA and heparin drips
- Manage patients with diagnoses such as pneumonia, UTI, SBO, PE, cellulitis, diabetes, diverticulitis, failure to thrive, infectious diseases, and sickle cell crisis
- Provide post-operative care for joint/hip replacements, debridements, amputations, and PEG/tube feeding patients
- Float between Med, Surg, Tele, and Ortho units as needed and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Accurately document all care and assessments in Epic EMR to support quality patient care and compliance
