Travel Sterile Processing Technician — Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,010 – $1,090
- Location: Odessa, TX 79761 (West Texas)
- Setting: Hospital — Central Sterile / CSSD
- Assignment Type: Travel Contract (Sterile Processing Technician / Central Sterile Technician)
- Start Date: May 19, 2026
- End Date: August 18, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Mid Shift, 5x8-Hour Evenings (2:30 PM – 11:00 PM, Monday–Friday)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Weekend Call: 1 weekend call per month
Sterile Processing Technician Requirements & Certifications
- Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience (travel experience preferred)
- Certification required:
- CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician via HSPA) or
- CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician via CBSPD)
- BLS (AHA) preferred
- Hands-on experience with Censitrac instrument tracking system
- Familiarity with Steris washers/sterilizers, VPRO max, ultrasonic cleaners, and Medivators
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed)
- COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Must provide resume and required documentation by the specified deadline
- Note: Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted for this travel sterile processing assignment
Sterile Processing Technician Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment following facility and infection control standards
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment including Steris washers, VPRO max sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, and Medivators
- Utilize Censitrac instrument tracking system for inventory control, case trays, and workflow management
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention protocols, and sterilization best practices
- Participate in weekend call rotation as scheduled
- Collaborate with surgical teams, perioperative staff, and nursing to ensure timely delivery of sterile supplies and support efficient case turnover
