Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of hospital-based respiratory therapy experience (acute care or critical care preferred)
- Valid Respiratory Therapist certification and state licensure (Registered Respiratory Therapist - RRT preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary hospital team
- Strong patient education, communication, and critical thinking skills
Key Responsibilities
- Provide intensive respiratory care, ventilator management, and patient transport per physician orders
- Assess patients, develop and recommend respiratory treatment plans, and document clinical responses
- Administer physician-prescribed respiratory treatments using mechanical ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, aerosol devices, and nebulizers
- Perform chest physiotherapy, tracheostomy care, suctioning, oximetry and capnography monitoring, and review chest x-rays
- Conduct pulmonary function studies, 12?lead EKGs, and basic arrhythmia recognition
- Assist with invasive and bedside procedures including bronchoscopy, chest tube care, and arterial puncture
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and monitor mechanical ventilation and respiratory equipment
- Accurately document treatments, therapy charges, and patient progress in charts and electronic medical records
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and participate in handoff rounds to ensure continuity of care
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency airway/ventilation procedures as needed
