Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,950 - $2,060
• Location: Decatur, Illinois (62526) — Illinois nursing jobs / travel nurse opportunity
• Setting: Pediatric MedSurg / Step-Down Unit (16 beds, 11 rooms)
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 5/18/2026 – End: 8/17/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (18:00 – 06:30), 36 hours per week — Night shift pediatric RN
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Charting / EMR: Cerner EMR (EMR proficiency required)
• Parking: Free with permit

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience (Pediatric RN experience required; adult med/surg experience preferred)
• Active Illinois RN license or active application with ETA (license in Illinois preferred)
• BLS and PALS certifications (AHA or Red Cross only)
• Experience with Cerner EMR and documentation for pediatric patients
• Clinical experience in Pediatric MedSurg, Step-Down/Telemetry units
• Clinical skills: IV therapy, phlebotomy, pediatric dosage calculations, infection prevention, wound care, respiratory support
• Ability to float to adult units as needed within scope of practice

Primary Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients across neonates, infants, children, adolescents, and adults as needed
• Administer medications and perform accurate pediatric dosage calculations
• Support breastfeeding and manage breast milk, bottle, and gavage feedings
• Manage common pediatric conditions including hyperbilirubinemia and insulin administration
• Perform IV therapy, peripheral line care, and phlebotomy
• Insert and manage oral/nasogastric tubes and urinary catheters
• Provide respiratory care including oral/nasal suctioning and oxygen delivery systems
• Implement infection prevention and isolation precautions and maintain patient safety
• Assess and care for wounds and collaborate on wound management plans
• Float to meet facility needs (including adult units) while maintaining pediatric competency
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: IV team, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services, and others
