Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $4,530 – $4,860
• Location: St. Louis / Saint Louis, Missouri (63104)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (May 18, 2026 – August 17, 2026)
• Shift: Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts (07:00 – 15:30); 40 hours/week
• Setting: Level 1 Teaching Hospital — Operating Room / Cardiothoracic OR (cardiac surgery perfusion)
• Position Type: Travel Perfusionist / OR Perfusionist (travel healthcare job)

Qualifications / Requirements

• Minimum 2 years recent perfusion experience in cardiac surgery or cardiothoracic OR (CABG, valve, aortic cases)
• Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) required
• Missouri state perfusion license required (pending applications will be considered)
• BLS certification required; advanced certifications (ACLS) a plus
• Experience in a Level 1 teaching hospital preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination required (no medical or religious exemptions accepted; no exceptions)
• Must participate in call rotation and be available for scheduled call
• Travel requirement: candidates must reside more than 70 miles from the facility (local applicants not accepted)
• Fit testing required for respirator clearance; must be clean-shaven for proper mask seal

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heart-lung machines and manage extracorporeal circulation during cardiac surgery and related procedures
• Provide perfusion management for CABG, valve replacement/repair, aortic dissection, and transplant cases
• Manage ECMO / ECLS support and respond to emergencies (oxygenator failure, massive air embolus)
• Perform autologous blood salvage and cell-saver setup/management during surgical cases
• Continuously monitor patient hemodynamics and blood gases; adjust perfusion strategies to ensure optimal outcomes
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesiologists, ICU teams, and OR staff in a multidisciplinary environment
• Participate in on-call coverage and provide rapid clinical decision-making in high-acuity scenarios
• Care for medically complex patients including those with ESRD, low EF, heart failure, and adult congenital heart disease
