Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
• Active Pennsylvania (PA) RN license or Multi-State Compact RN license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 2 years in ICU, step-down, or a clinical specialty (critical care RN experience preferred)
• Additional specialty certifications (e.g., ACLS, CEN) may be required depending on facility policies

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, implement, and evaluate patient care for IMCU and step-down patients under physician direction
• Provide critical care nursing, monitor complex IMCU diagnoses (e.g., severe withdrawal, hypertensive emergencies, DKA) with required assessments and documentation
• Float within the IMCU/step-down float pool (PCU/step-down units) — not assigned to med/surg-only units
• Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to individualize care plans consistent with evidence-based practice
• Direct and supervise nursing support staff to ensure safe, high-quality patient care per facility policy
• Maintain appropriate IMCU patient ratios (never to exceed 3:1) and adhere to IMCU exclusion criteria (e.g., positive pressure ventilation, dialysis, arterial lines)
• Stay current with critical care nursing principles, protocols, and competency requirements
