Job Details

• Location: Akron, OH 44304 (Akron healthcare, Ohio nursing jobs)
• Role: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical / Med-Surg RN (Travel RN)
• Setting: 28-bed Med/Surg unit (6 West) — geriatric & overflow patients
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (June 14, 2026 – September 12, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) — Night Shift RN
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 – $2,010 (Competitive travel nurse pay)

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (Nursys verification required)
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years recent Medical/Surgical RN experience (Med-Surg RN)
• Phlebotomy experience and IV insertion/maintenance skills
• Epic EMR experience — must be documented on resume for the last 12 months
• Accredited nursing degree (ACEN or CCNE)
• Ability to float to other units as needed
• Resume must include all required experience; maximum 7 days requested time off (RTO) during assignment; no RTO accepted in first two weeks

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to geriatric and overflow Med/Surg patients as a Medical-Surgical Nurse
• Implement the 4Ms framework: What Matters, Medication, Mentation, and Mobility for age-friendly care
• Assess and manage patients with varied diagnoses (e.g., GI bleed, UTI, trauma, infection, pneumonia, CHF, altered mental status, failure to thrive)
• Perform phlebotomy and manage peripheral IVs and lines
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to prevent functional decline and address acute medical needs
• Float to other units as required and maintain flexibility as a travel RN
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic EMR
