Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,730 – $1,860
• Location: Portsmouth, VA 23707 (Portsmouth healthcare jobs, Virginia)
• Position: Travel Radiology Technologist / Radiologic Technologist / Rad Tech
• Employment Type: 13-week Travel Contract (June 8, 2026 – September 5, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour Nights (9pm – 7am, Monday–Friday) — Night shift imaging technologist
• Hours per Week: 36
• Call & Holiday Rotations: Required (overnight and weekends)
• Clinical Setting: Hospital radiology department — diagnostic imaging, fluoroscopy, OR C?Arm procedures

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hospital experience as a Radiology Technologist / Rad Tech
• Recent hands-on experience with fluoroscopy (fluoro) procedures and ability to work independently
• OR and C?Arm experience required (intraoperative imaging)
• Certification and active registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) — required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association — required
• Associate degree from an ARRT-accredited program preferred
• State licensure as applicable (preferred unless Virginia requires)
• Previous travel technologist experience preferred
• Experience with Radiology Information System (RIS) and EPIC EHR preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient clinical history; ensure documentation available for licensed practitioners
• Position and immobilize patients to demonstrate anatomic areas of interest while maintaining patient comfort and safety
• Apply radiation protection principles and ALARA to minimize exposure during diagnostic imaging
• Select, operate, and maintain radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging equipment and accessories
• Verify informed consent; complete pre- and post-procedure documentation and image records
• Assist physicians and licensed practitioners during fluoroscopic and specialized radiography procedures using aseptic technique
• Prepare and administer contrast/medications as prescribed, following facility protocols
• Evaluate image quality for diagnostic acceptability and document patient dose exposures
• Communicate professionally with physicians, technologists, nursing staff, patients, and families
• Participate in scheduled call and holiday rotations as required by the radiology department
