- Shift: Days, 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM
- Shift Duration: 10 hours
- Schedule: 4 rotating 10-hour shifts per week
- Hours per Week: 40
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per month, 12-hour call coverage
- On-Call Requirement: 1 night call per week
- Floating: May float to other surgical services units as needed
- EMR: EPIC
Job Requirements
- Active New Mexico RN license or current Compact state RN license
- Current BLS certification through AHA
- Current ACLS certification through AHA
- Current PALS certification through AHA
- At least 1 year of recent RN experience preferred, with PACU, perioperative, surgical services, or recovery room experience strongly valued
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
- Strong critical thinking, assessment, and patient education skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with patients, families, and care teams
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, efficient, and compassionate care to post-anesthesia patients in the PACU
- Perform initial assessments, ongoing reassessments, and timely interventions based on patient needs
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
- Monitor patient recovery and respond appropriately to changes in condition
- Educate patients and families on recovery expectations and discharge planning
- Document care accurately and maintain strong communication with the surgical, anesthesia, and recovery teams
- Complete point-of-care testing and follow established clinical standards
- Support a respectful, team-oriented environment focused on quality outcomes and patient safety
