• Shift Duration: 10 hours
• Schedule: 4 rotating 10-hour shifts per week
• Hours per Week: 40
• Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per month, 12-hour call coverage
• On-Call Requirement: 1 night call per week
• Floating: May float to other surgical services units as needed
• EMR: EPIC

Job Requirements

• Active New Mexico RN license or current Compact state RN license
• Current BLS certification through AHA
• Current ACLS certification through AHA
• Current PALS certification through AHA
• At least 1 year of recent RN experience preferred, with PACU, perioperative, surgical services, or recovery room experience strongly valued
• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and patient education skills
• Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with patients, families, and care teams

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, efficient, and compassionate care to post-anesthesia patients in the PACU
• Perform initial assessments, ongoing reassessments, and timely interventions based on patient needs
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
• Monitor patient recovery and respond appropriately to changes in condition
• Educate patients and families on recovery expectations and discharge planning
• Document care accurately and maintain strong communication with the surgical, anesthesia, and recovery teams
• Complete point-of-care testing and follow established clinical standards
• Support a respectful, team-oriented environment focused on quality outcomes and patient safety
